Guy Ritchie's Aladdin Will Have In-Depth Characterization

Guy Ritchie's upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney's Aladdin has many fans excited for it. Fans were pleasantly surprised to hear about a fairly diverse cast for the film, with Will Smith as The Genie for kicks. Previous live-action adaptations of classic Disney movies did attempt to add more depth to certain characters and situations. Thanks to Nevar Negahban, who will play as Jasmine's father, we now know this film will attempt to add more depth to its characters as well.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Negahban discussed how careful director Guy Ritchie was when developing the cast. The actor praised the director's attention to detail, as well as the respect he had for the film's characters. It looks like fans who were worried about how the film would turn out can relax, though we'll have to wait for the film to be released to judge.

Here is what Negahban said about Ritchie:

"Guy's point of view goes deeper. One of the things he wanted to do and he was very, very cautious about it and he was emphasizing on that he wants to be very respectful to the characters. He's very, very cautious. He wants to show the depth of each of these characters and the film itself will be a film that no matter how old you are, you're going to enjoy it. It's a fantastic team. Beautiful, beautiful team. I mean, you will see the costumes. Gorgeous! Unbelievable!"

The live-action Aladdin film will hit theaters on May 24, 2019.
