Guillermo Del Toro Shares Terrifying First Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark Poster

There is little doubt that the Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark is set to terrify audiences this year. Not surprisingly, the new poster shared by Guillermo del Toro could be enough to make you fear scarecrows all over again.

Del Toro shared the new poster on his official Twitter account and it's almost like Stephen Gammell's illustrations have come to life. Take a look at the image below.

Does that guy look familiar? That's right, it's Harold the homicidal scarecrow from Scary Stories 3: More Tales to Chill Your Bones. It looks like Harold is set for a big screen debut this August.

The story Harold is certainly a cautionary tale about being nice to inanimate objects. It features two cow farmers who decide to create a scarecrow that resembles a fellow farmer they dislike and named it Harold. Unfortunately, the two men aren't very nice to the scarecrow as it stands guard over the farm. But then, things get truly creepy when Harold comes to life and happens to have a taste for blood.

Although it looks like we'll get the scarecrow story in the film, it's hardly the only terrifying tale to look forward to in Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark. We're looking forward to more posters and hopefully a trailer later this month.

The movie will be produced by del Toro and helmed by Trollhunter director André Øvredal. The cast of Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark has not yet been announced. Nevertheless, the film is scheduled for release on August 9.
