Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was Supposed to Come Out This Month Until James Gunn was Fired

It feels like we've been waiting for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for years. James Gunn was fired from Marvel Studios after some BS circumstances over 10-year-old tweets. Afterward, Gunn remained silent on social media for a long time but did manage to get hired for DC's The Suicide Squad. While he was eventually rehired, Gunn has revealed that if he weren't fired back then, we would see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in theaters this month.

Could you imagine the alternate reality where Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be coming out this May? We probably wouldn't be suffering from the COVID-19 epidemic if he were never fired.

All kidding aside, Gunn actually feels that the movie would have been delayed due to COVID-19 as well, remarking how "God works in mysterious ways." It's also worth pointing out how Black Widow was supposed to come out earlier this month so Marvel's Phase-Four really went through a lot of changes huh?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has a lot of people interested since Avengers: Endgame left some interesting plot threads for the third sequel. Thor joining the group looked promising and having them search for 2012 Gamora is going to lead to one interesting trip for our favorite space outlaws. Alas, Gunn was fired, plans changed, and then he was rehired. What a shame.

No release date for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been released. James Gunn's The Suicide Squad will be coming out in August 2021.
