Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Star Talks Nebula, Gamora And Thanos

Though Guardians of the GalaxyVol. 2 is finally going to see release in a couple of weeks, the film's cast continues to tease fans with exciting information about the superhero space romp's characters and their development.

While Josh Brolin's Thanos won't be present in the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, Karen Gillan discusses with Screen Rant Nebula's "dysfunctional" upbringing under the Mad Titan and her mission to fix things with her sister Gamora (Zoe Saldana).

When asked by the publication about her missing hand, Gillan goes all out and replies:

"Yeah, so she's on a mission to sort of rectify that because she's missing a hand. And she's also on a mission to find Gamora and rectify a few things there as well and we're going to find out a lot about their back story and learn a lot about Thanos's parenting skills and maybe how dysfunctional the entire thing is. So we're going to chip away at those layers, which is really fun."

"When you understand anyone's motivations for anything, I think you can empathize with them and that's exactly the case with Nebula here. And that's what I'm really excited about as an actress, because I want to empathize with my characters. And yeah, I think people might even feel a little bit sorry for her, if it's possible."

Though Gillan later explains that Nebula's main focus is to fix things with Gamora, the Scottish actress also confirms that Marvel fans will learn more about Thanos' character through the film.

" Yeah, I guess so. We learn a lot about their back story actually and what happened to these two girls growing up and actually how awful it was for them and how it's ruined their relationship and they're sort of going to freely talk about it, which has never happened between these two people."

Thanos did play a large role in the lives of the two so it makes sense that fans will learn more about the Mad Titan through the impact (whether negative or positive) that he made on Nebula and Gamora. It's also likely that the film will plant a few seeds to help direct the Guardians towards Avengers: Infinity War. We'll have to wait and see.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits cinemas on May 5, 2017 while Avengers: Infinity War releases on May 4, 2018.
