Jim Gordon is facing another challenge in the newest preview of Gotham.
Dubbed New Day Rising, the new episode will see the face-off with Mad Hatter. The sneak peek is primarily the interaction between the Mad Hatter and Jim, where the latter can't seem to escape the former. The Mad Hatter's sister Alice also warns Jim that he's already "doomed" because of it.
We also see a little bit of Harvey Bullock, Jim's closest ally at this point, and Captain Nathaniel Barnes warns him that Jim will be the death of him one of these days. There's even a harrowing scene where it looks like Jim gets too close for comfort in handling a gun.
There's all kinds of danger and damnation for Jim. The fact that Barbara Keane is even teasing him about being "monumentally screwed" gives a sad sense of irony as to where things stand for the future Commissioner.
"Penguin gains power as he narrows in on the nomination for Mayor of Gotham. Meanwhile, Gordon turns Alice (guest star Naian Gonzalez Norvind) into the GCPD for the bounty. Also, Bruce and Alfred race to find Bruce's doppleganger after learning he's assumed Bruce's identity."
There's also a lot of gun pointing and shooting, so we don't know where exactly things are going, how they'll escalate even further, and worse, who will be at the end of a loaded gun. Some hints point to Harvey, but we hope it's not yet the end of the line for him.
The next episode of Gotham will be out on Fox on Oct. 10.
