Ghost In The Shell (2017) Gets An Honest Trailer

Scarlett Johansson’s Ghost in the Shell was a critical bomb, and a lot of people thought it wasn’t able to live-up to the original movie (just like with every adaptation). Screen Junkies has now released their Honest Trailer for the GitS, and it does not hold back any punches.

You’ve seen Scarlett Johansson as a special ops soldier, an enhanced human, a stoic outsider, a sexy robot voice, and a white girl feeling out of place in Asia. Now she’ll combine them all as the Major—an enhanced special ops sexy robot voice stoic outsider white girl who feels out of place in Asia.

I have to admit, I didn’t really think the movie was that bad when it came out, but a few months after I realized that I really had no inclination to watch the film again. You have to give the movie props for visuals though; Ghost in the Shell did look beautiful.

So far, Hollywood still hasn’t found the right formula when it comes to successfully adapting popular Japanese property. I’m sure there have been some exceptions like The Ring, but let’s also not forget about the cringe-fest that was Dragon Ball Evolution. Maybe Hollywood just has to take anime seriously?
