The end is finally here. Game of Thrones Season 8 will air later tonight and the final season could open with an unexpected battle between two powerful women. The still-untitled first episode is expected to feature a clash between Daenerys Targaryen and Sansa Stark.
The first episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 is still a mystery but there are speculations that the final season will open with Daenerys arriving in Winterfell with Jon Snow. As shown in the first footage from the eighth season, Sansa welcomes Dany into her home by saying, "Winterfell is yours, your grace." However, Sophie Turner has revealed to Entertainment Weekly that her character isn't impressed with the Mother of Dragons.
"[Sansa's] relationship with Jon is struggling because he's so clearly in love with Daenerys and believes in her completely," Turner said. "Sansa thinks she's power-hungry and not the rightful queen. There's a huge amount of fighting between Sansa and Jon."
Interestingly, Sansa has another more practical reason to dislike Daenerys. According to Turner, the Lady of Winterfell is unhappy that they have more mouths to feed.
"She's not initially impressed. She's not happy because she's going to have to feed these dragons. They require a lot of food and they have limited resources," she said.
It's not a huge surprise that Sansa is unimpressed with Daenerys or her dragons (and perhaps even her army). However, there are greater things to worry about in the final season.
There are speculations that Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 1 will also feature an attack on Last Hearth, the seat of House Umber which is closest to the area of the Wall that was destroyed in the previous season. This means that the Night King and his White Walkers are continuing their march towards the Seven Kingdoms.
Game of Thrones Season 8 will premiere on HBO on April 14.
