Game of Thrones Casting A Couple Of Child Actors For Season 8

It might take fans a couple of years till they get to see the eighth season of Game of Thrones, however, it seems like HBO's already started casting new roles for the final run of the popular TV adaptation of George R.R. Martin's fantasy epic book series, A Song of Ice And Fire.

According to the Watchers on the Wall, HBO has started putting up its first casting notices for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, and it looks like the network's looking for young stars to fill in a couple of unnamed children's roles.

The first role going out for a "Northern Girl" who's supposed to be around age 8, HBO has started searching for young stars up to the age of ten. The character has been "described as being a straight-talking Northern-accented girl, someone remarkable for her dauntlessness and integrity. According to the write-up, she's been brought up in a family of soldiers and shares their fearlessness. The part is said to be a ‘very nice stand-out part for a strong-minded young girl with a fighting spirit.'"

The other role is for a boy between the ages of 8-12 that's physically fit, agile and has distinctive facial features. The character is being "described as being from a poor background, a boy who has to fight to make his way in the world. The description we saw mentions that they need an actor who can ‘completely own the scenes that he appears in,' hinting at multiple scenes. No coloring or height was noted, for what it's worth."

While the Northern Girl sounds like a lot like Lyanna Mormont, it's unlikely that Game of Thrones will be re-casting a fan favorite. That or the character could be a newbie that we get to meet along the way as the Great War brews.

Meanwhile, some have an inkling that the boy might actually play the child of Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) – after all, the series has hinted towards the eventual pregnancy of the Dragon Queen quite a number of times during the last season. Or, the young boy could play a younger Stark or Targaryan in a flashback. Who knows? We'll just have to wait and see.

Game of Thrones season 8 premieres sometime 2018 or 2019.
