Future God Of War Games Could Focus On Egyptian Or Mayan Mythology

One of the most anticipated games for the year in the reboot/sequel of God of War, and it will have Kratos dealing with Norse mythology this time as compared to the original games which had him going against Greek gods. As it turns out, the sequels for the game are aiming to cover a lot more ancient mythologies.

Speaking to Game Informer, game director Cory Barlog explained:

"The Greek games were the Greek era of God of War. Moving on, the next mythological belief system he interacts with became the Norse era of God of War. But we may end up going on to the Egyptian era and the Mayan era and so on and so forth."

This seems to be an interesting direction to take the game. After countless bouts with the gods of Greek mythology, I think people are starting to wonder who Kratos hasn't murdered yet. This new God of War promises to be a unique reinvention of the game, and hopefully it will manage to keep the spirit of spectacle that the original installments were known for.

No official release date has been announced for 2018's God of War, but hopefully we'll get an announcement before the month ends.
