Fullmetal Alchemist Live-Action Film's New Theatrical Poster Features Key Characters

If there's one live-action anime adaptation worth waiting for, it's most likely the Fullmetal Alchemist movie coming in a few weeks. Sure, the film has been criticized for having an all-Japanese cast desite its German-inspired characters but based on what we've seen in the trailers so far, it looks like the film is staying true to its source material.

Last week, a new trailer was released, showing us more epic footage that fans of the anime would be familiar with. Warner Bros. also released a new poster featuring the film's key characters, including Edward and Alphonse Elric, several State alchemists, Winry, and the villainous homonculae.

Check out the full poster below:

The film takes place in an alternate reality 20th century where alchemy is real. The story follows Edward (Ryosuke Yamada) and Alphonse Elric (voiced by Atomu Mizuishi) who, after trying the forbidden technique of human transmutation, suffer the deadly consequences. Edward loses his left leg and right arm while Alphonese loses an entire body. Edward sacrificd his right arm to save his brother's soul by attaching it to a metal armor. Edward is given metal prosthetics to replace his arm and leg. The Elric brothers embark on a journey to find the legendary Philosopher's Stone.

Fumihiko Sori's live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film is set to debut at the Tokyo International Film Festival on October 25 before it premieres in Japanese theaters on December 1.
