First Online Reactions to Detective Pikachu Will Get You Hyped Up

We still have to wait a couple of weeks to see it but some critics were able to watch Pokemon: Detective Pikachu early and they seem to like it. Many were worried that the film would be a massive disappointment but it looks like the trailers were right; this is going to be a good movie. We'll have to wait for more detailed reviews to come out but these initial thoughts are nice to hear.

ComiBook.com's Megan Peters called the film a hit and says fans old and new should check it out. She also called Psyduck a fairly relatable Pokemon, which should warm the heart of many who have loved the Pokemon since the games or anime.

Dave Tromber from Collider also enjoyed it, with him even saying that the film made him wish Ryme City was real. Most of us have always wanted a Pokemon Region to be real, like Kanto or Johto, so this might be the closest thing yet. At least until they make a Pokemon VR game.

Nerdist writer Dan Casey said that the film was a pure joy from start to finish and called the experience a charming one. That's really all we could ask for from a live-action Pokemon movie and it's safe to say that we're all pretty pumped.

More reviews can be found online but it seems like this will be a favorite when it comes out. Pokemon: Detective Pikachu will be released on May 10.
