First Concept Art Leaked for Tom and Jerry Movie

If something used to be popular a few decades back, there's a good chance that Hollywood is already making a reboot of it for the younger generations. Word has it that a Tom and Jerry movie is in the works and some concept art has leaked online.

Check it out:

What's cool is, instead of giving us a CGI version of the characters, we're actually going to have them in the original 2D animated format interacting in a live-action environment—pretty much like they did with Space Jam and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

This is just early concept art though, so we shouldn't expect Jennifer Lawrence to actually be in the movie. What we can take from it though is that the film wants a girl to be in the lead.

Since their debut in the 40s, Tom and Jerry has managed to capture multiple generations of audiences, what with multiple reboots and revamps over the years. It was only a matter of time before we actually got to see a box office movie come out. Let's just hope the filmmakers have enough of the story to draw in an audience. We don't want another Garfield in our hands.

For now, it looks like the Tom and Jerry film is still in very early stages of pre-production with Tom Story (Fantastic Four 2005) set to direct.

No release date has been set for Tom and Jerry.
