DCEU's Birds of Prey has already started production, and we've been given an official teaser which gives us a good look at the characters. We've already seen some set photos of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, but now even more shots have leaked, and it has Harley wearing two different costumes.
The brighter-colored outfit with suspenders kind of looks like the same one from the teaser, but Harley isn't wearing the colorful fringe that we saw in the earlier preview. The silver outfit is something we haven't seen before, and it has Harley wearing a "J" necklace—possibly for the Joker.
With the movie said to be dealing with Harley's "emancipation", I have a feeling we're going to see her have a falling out with Mr. J. What I hope is that we actually get to see Joker in the film instead of Harley just talking to someone offscreen. I know a lot of people have their qualms about Jared Leto in Suicide Squad, but I'm willing to give him a chance to redeem himself.
If they do want to take inspiration from a comic though, I hope they take it from Bruce Timm's Mad Love. That comic had Harley getting kicked out by the Joker, and it also kind of fleshed out the nature of their relationship—something a lot of fans thought Suicide Squad didn't really do.
After [splitting] up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord.
Birds of Prey hits theaters Feb. 7, 2020.
