Ernie Hudson Updates on His Involvement with Ghostbusters 2020

Ghostbusters 2016 was not well-received by audiences, and Sony has decided to remedy this by going the sequel/reboot direction. Jason Reitman (son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman) has been hired to helm Ghostbusters 2020, and it's said that the movie will bring back the cast of the original. Ernie Hudson, who plays Winston Zeddemore, gives an update on his involvement in the upcoming film.

Talking to /Film, Hudson reveals that he's already talked to the Reitmans about the movie. He explains:

"I reached out to Jason… I've talked to Jason. I've also had a conversation with Ivan [Reitman] just to congratulate him. They confirmed that the movie is definitely being made, because you know there's always been rumors with Ghostbusters the last 30 years. What that'll look like, they did not share."

The movie is said to be focusing on a whole new cast of characters, and I'm guessing the roles for the returning characters won't be so large. With the movie still in pre-production, I don't really expect Hudson (nor Dan Aykroyd or Bill Murray) to be too involved with the story. My guess is they'll be brought into the movie a bit later, and that's when they'll be in on the secrets.

Hudson goes on to say that he hasn't been offered a part yet. He says:

"Nobody's offered me a job, but the reason I wanted to reach out to Jason, I remember him as a little kid on the set of Ghostbusters… The fact that he's stepping into that, I think the fans have been wanting it so no matter what happens, I know it's going to be a great movie. I really respect him as a filmmaker. Obviously, I'd love to be a part of it but that hasn't so far presented itself. I know that the movie will be good."

Ghostbusters 2020 is set for a release on July 10, 2020.
