It goes without saying that Amber Heard had a pretty disastrous 2022 and after she lost the multi-million dollar defamation case Johnny Depp filed against her, the general consensus right now is that her Hollywood career will be going down the drain. Currently, the ever-so-controversial actress has been keeping things lowkey in her personal life but she's expected to make a big screen comeback in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which has been pushed back to 2023.

Here's the deal though, Heard is reportedly getting axed from the DC Extended Universe due to her years-long controversies. Intriguingly, Warner Bros. Discovery hasn't addressed the issues surrounding her and the rumors claiming she'll be ousted from the franchise after Aquaman 2.

Despite the uncertainty, fans are still convinced that she'll bid the franchise farewell next year, never to be seen again. As for the Mera character, while it's being speculated that she'll get written off in the sequel while giving birth to her son with Arthur Curry, a lot of people would love to see the character be portrayed by a different actress and Emilia Clarke happens to be a top contender.

Now, in a shocking development, the Game of Thrones alumnus has once again become a hot topic online after a Google listing suggested that she'll appear in the DCEU flick. While nothing has been officially confirmed, fans see it as a hint that she'll actually be replacing Amber as Mera. What do you think?

It's worth noting that Aquaman 2 is reportedly being "retooled" so that the story would align perfectly with WB Discovery's 10-year plan for the DCEU. This is obviously a reach but what if they're secretly adding Emilia to take over the Mera role while additional photography is taking place?

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's theatrical release has been rescheduled to December 25, 2023.
