Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Reveals Production Date for DC's Black Adam

Now that Shazam has proven to be a solid superhero comedy for all to enjoy, a lot of us are wondering about the upcoming Black Adam movie, where Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will portray the popular anti-hero. Many of us thought that the character's film would come out before Shazam since Johnson was cast quite early but as we all know, that didn't happen.

Well, thanks to a post from The Rock himself, we now know that production on the movie will start next July. This implies that Black Adam could have a 2021 release, which is far from a bad thing since 2020 already has Wonder Woman: 1984 and Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) to keep DC fans busy.

There was a very brief appearance from Black Adam during Shazam, though it didn't last too long and was over before you knew it. We didn't get a close up of the character and it was all CGI so fans hoping it would look like Dwayne Johnson were probably disappointed. They didn't go far into his backstory but it's going to be fun seeing how it plays out, especially with rumors about the JSA getting involved.

If there's one thing to be worried about, it's that Johnson tends to be a comedic actor and the character is anything but that. While we can understand making him a bit funnier this time since he is the lead, we hope Johnson doesn't ham it up too much. He'll probably do the eyebrow thing though.

Black Adam's production date starts in July 2020. Excited?
