Dragon Ball fans are excited to get more details for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Broly film and now, thanks to director Tatsuya Nagamine, we have new details regarding the film's storyline and characters.

Nagamine has revealed that he wants to redefine how key parts of the anime are expressed visually.

Herms98 translated a statement: "Nagamine felt the image of what a DB anime was like had gotten too fixed; he wants to refresh how Super Saiyan transformations/Kamehamehas/etc are depicted, using the latest animation methods."

It sounds like the film is aiming to innovate the way certain elements are depicted.

When the first teaser for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super film was released, fans already noticed the change of visual style, and it would be interesting to see how the animation will come together in the new film.

When talking about how the Super Saiyan transformation could be depicted differently, Nagamine hinted creator Akira Toriyama's controversial "tingy back" theory for how Saiyans physically access the Super Saiyan transformation as actually an inspiration for him.

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is set to release in Japanese theaters this December, and it's expected to get a U.S. release in January 2019.
