Doctor Strange Featurette & Gag Reel Clips Show Hilarious Fun Behind-the-Scenes

The latest deleted scenes from Doctor Strange may have shown a violent and impatient Kaecilius, portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen.

A new set of clips, however, show audience a lighthearted and fun behind-the-scenes good time as shared by the cast and crew of Doctor Strange. In the first clip, there’s the creation of the astral form scene in the hospital, wherein Strange leave his body.

Who knew that that scene had quite a lot of planning, from the effects of the astral forms down to the way the camera was shot and utilized all over the place.

“The astral form is one of the simplest effects that we’ve done, and one of the hardest. You need to believe that in a way is the spirit that sort of comes out of the body. We all know what the body looks like, and we also know what a ghost looks like. And we didn’t want it to look like a ghost, and yet is ghostly.”

To do this, the crew had to conceptualize astral movement as one that affects the environment. So when there’s punching and hitting the walls, it’s essentially felt in the physical world. Though to be honest, that kind of reminded me of poltergeists, but that’s beside the point.

The second clip, seen below, is a short gag reel of bloopers. A lot of them sees Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch getting his funny groove and moves on, dancing around the set and trying to stumble around his dialogues. Even Tilda Swinton loses her cool somehow as The Ancient One.

Doctor Strange is slated for Digital HD, 3D, and Disney Movies Anywhere release on Feb. 14. The Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray HD, Digital SD, DVD, and VOD will follow on Feb. 28.
