Disney's New Streaming Service Won't Include R-Rated Movies

Various streaming platforms included Disney films and TV shows but now Mouse House will have its own place for digital content. Last August, The Walt Disney Company announced that it's creating its own streaming service, but if you're hoping to watch Rated-R films on the service, you may want to look somewhere else.

Disney's home streaming service won't be available until Fall 2019 but it looks like the company has already made the decision not to feature R-rated content in the new streaming service, Deadline reports. Instead, those R-rated titles will be on Hulu, which Disney currently owns 30% stock in. This isn't really a surprise since Disney has a reputation for being family-friendly, and they rarely make films beyond PG-13.

Deadline also listed some of the films coming to Disney's streaming service. There's going to be a Lady and The Tramp remake, as well as the live-action remake of The Sword and The Stone. There's also the Mark Walters-directed Magic Camp and the Anna Kendrick Christmas comedy Noelle, which are both currently in post-production and is set to release on the streaming service. Right now, the plan is to produce four to five original films every year, and the amount will likely increase over time.

With a plethora of big franchises Disney owns, it's unlikely that its streaming service will be negatively affected by not including R-rated titles.
