Did Michael Pena Just Confirm Ant-Man 3?

2015 introduced us to Ant-Man, and one of the highlights of the film was Michael Pena's hilarious portrayal of Luis, Scott Lang's fellow thief. Pena is in line to star in the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, and he has somehow confirmed the existence of a third movie down the line.

While promoting his movie 12 Strong, Pena told IGN about Ant-Man:

"We talked about it on the first day. It's a whole different kind of club to be in, the Marvel Universe. I don't know if they'll use me for the third movie, I still really don't know. It's cool to make a little bit of a mark on that Marvel Universe and it's kind of a cool club, they run a really cool studio."

Though Ant-Man is one of the smaller franchises in the MCU, I can imagine a third film in the works should the sequel be a success. The first three solo movies have already "concluded" their arcs with trilogies; why can't they do the same for Ant-Man?

As for Pena's involvement, I think his Luis character is necessary for setting the tone of the movie. The stakes are ultimately smaller when it came to the first Ant-Man movie, and I'm fine if they stay that way. Not every movie has to have a larger than life threat looming in the horizon.

As for now, Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for a release in July 6.
