The DC Extended Universe slate is currently packed with movie releases for the next four years. However, that doesn't mean other movies aren't in development as well. Among the film projects following 2020 is about DC Comics' foul-mouthed alien bounty hunter, Lobo.
Today, scriptwriter Jason Fuchs, who also wrote Wonder Woman, has confirmed that he's working on the movie's script, and that he will be using the character's original comics version for his reading material.

As noted by Cinema Blend, the hashtag "portraitofabastich" that came with the Instagram post refers to the trade paperback Lobo: Portrait of a Bastich, which comprises of the four-issue Lobo series and Lobo's Back miniseries co-written by creator Keith Giffen. Introduced in 1983, Lobo is a Czarnian with supernatural abilities of super strength, enhanced healing and immortality. He travels the galaxy to find criminals and creatures with bounties. He's not a superhero in the common sense since he loves cigars and he keeps getting into fights with powerful characters like Superman and even other villains.
However, that 1983 "gritty" superhero version from the ‘80s and early ‘90s soon ended, and a new thin, "handsome" version was introduced with the New 52. The New 52's Justice League #23.2 claimed that the old Lobo was an impostor, meaning no humorous shenanigans.
You can understand why seeing Fuchs' post comes as an exciting prospect of what's to become of the Lobo movie. It seems like DC is taking a cue from 20th Century Fox's success with Deadpool, which has more humor and R-rated mischief.
No other details are known about the Lobo movie, but this recent development shows that the movie is on the right track.
