DC's Cyborg Comic Book Cancelled

Despite being in the Justice League movie and a solo spinoff in the future, DC has canceled the Cyborg ongoing series. This series is the latest Rebirth title canceled after the successful rebranding, the others being Superwoman and Blue Beetle. Considering how much stock the character has in other forms of media, it's a bit surprising to see Cyborg's solo title get canned.

Newsarama confirmed the news, revealing that Cyborg #20 will be the last issue and that it will come out in January. The final two issues will not be written by series regular John Semper Jr, who wrote the first 18 issues. Instead, Underworld writer Kevin Grevioux will write the last two issues. Grevioux went to Twitter and corrected fans who said he was taking over the series, stating that he was only finishing it.

Fans of the former Teen Titan need not worry, as the character will remain a regular in the ongoing Justice League series. Interestingly enough, the character will become the leader of the group when Deathstroke writer Christopher Priest takes over the series, starting with December's Justice League #34.

Considering the nature of comics, it wouldn't be too farfetched to assume that the character will get another solo series in the future, especially if his DCEU film ends up being made. Until then, fans will have to pick up Justice League for their daily dose of Victor Stone.
