DCEU Producer Confident That Ben Affleck Will Play Bruce Wayne In Matt Reeve’s Film

Ben Affleck stepping down from The Batman's director seat caused a lot of mayhem for Warner Bros. and DC. After announcing that he'd take on the project, the Batman star and critically-acclaimed Hollywood actor and director decided he had changed his mind and dropped the directorial role like a hot potato, saying that he'd rather much focus on the role.

Though Warner Bros. did manage to nab War for the Planet of the Apes and Cloverfield director Matt Reeves for the DC Extended Universe film installment, Affleck's abandonment as the helmsman of The Batman had left many worrying that he would do the same with his role as the Dark Knight.

Though the film doesn't have any release date, it seems like Man of Steel's executive producer, Charles Roven, is still confident that Affleck will return to the big screen to play The Batman's Bruce Wayne after starring along with Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, and Jason Mamoa in Justice League.

"I mean, I'm not really involved with The Batman, but from everything… We have a cursory involvement because that character is going to touch us some way," Roven explained to Comicbook. "If Ben plays that character it's going to touch some part of what we are doing. But I have no feeling whatsoever except positive that Matt loves Ben and the work that he has done as Batman, and Ben thinks that Matt is a really terrific filmmaker. I have every expectation that they are going to make a movie together."

"Well everybody is different, depending on when the deals were made and how many they've done. Ben [Affleck] has done Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad and Justice League right. Gal has done Wonder Woman, Justice League and Batman v Superman. They all have deals, I'm not exactly sure - I couldn't sit here and tell you this one has so many options left and this one has no options left, or whatever. The great news is that in terms of my best read of the situation, everybody loves the characters they play. This is not just the lead good guys, it's the bad guys as well, or the bad but not evil members of Suicide Squad. I think everybody really likes those characters. I think all of the actors would like to be part of another one."

While it's not a solid confirmation that Affleck would stay, Roven's confidence in the star's return is pretty reassuring for fans. Many have praised Affleck's performance as Bruce Wayne, dubbing him as the most comicbook accurate Batman to date.

While everyone is waiting for Affleck to star in The Batman, the Hollywood star is set to return to the big screen in Justice League on November 17.
