DC Animated's Wonder Woman Bloodlines Gets Synopsis, Promo Art, and Voice Cast Announcement

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines is the latest DC animated film coming to Digital, Blu-Ray, and DVD but is also noteworthy for being the second of these straight-to-home release movies to be a solo Wonder Woman story after the first one in 2009, simply called Wonder Woman. It's been a long time coming, so here's hoping we get more of these films starring the Amazon hero, along with other female superheroes from the DC universe.

The synopsis is as follows, courtesy of Flickering Myth:

When Amazon princess Diana of Themyscira chooses to save fighter pilot Steve Trevor, it's a choice that will change her world and ours. Fulfilling the role of both ambassador as well as protector, Diana earns the name Wonder Woman from the gracious people of Earth. But her heart is as strong as her will as she is determined to help a troubled and embittered young girl whom has fallen in with a deadly organization known only as Villainy, Inc! Get ready for an exciting adventure packed with brutal battles, myth and wonder!

From what can be uncovered with the synopsis, this doesn't appear to be based on any of the recent comic arcs of the character. Diana is wearing the same tunic seen in films like Justice League: War so it's safe to assume that this is in the same continuity as past DC animated films. This also means the same art and animation style, for better or worse, though the visuals do present a cohesive and continuous look that fans can appreciate.

Still, some of us do miss the times when each DC animated film had a different animation style. Oh well…
