David Duchovny: Open To More X-Files After The New Mini-Series

Earlier this month, FOX announced that the new X-Files mini-series will mark the franchise's return to television on January. The following night, the mini-series will then move to its normal Monday 8PM time slot. Everyone seems to love the idea of X-Files' revival. Although the new mini-series will only have six episodes, star David Duchovny told Entertainment Weekly that he's down for a second season:

"I would be open to doing another cycle. I don't know that I could do a 20-episode version of this show at this point in my life, and I don't know that Gillian could. But I think everybody is open ended on what happens after this. Certainly, we didn't bring it back with the idea of ending it."

That's great news for fans who have been craving for more X-Files since the last episode aired thirteen years ago. Another interesting thing Duchovny revealed about the show is that it will blend stand-alone stories with overarching mythology. "Even though there's only six [episodes], there will be a mix," Duchovny said. "It's not really The X-Files without the mythology." The series will return to FOX on January 24, following the NFC championship football game.
