David Ayer Regrets Joker's 'Damaged' Tattoo

David Ayer may not be attached to the Suicide Squad sequel, but he has been making some recent revelations about his original movie. He just recently talked about how the original cut of the film was vastly different, and now he expresses regret on one of the design choices for Jared Leto's Joker.

This was Ayer's response when he was asked if the ‘damaged' tattoo on Joker's head was his idea:

Of all the letdowns that came with Suicide Squad, Jared Leto's Joker was probably close to the top of the list. After all this hype building around the character—including news of Leto harassing cast mates while in character—the Joker only appeared in the movie for a few minutes, add to that he really wasn't given that much material to work with.

A lot of people are still holding out that Leto's Joker will eventually have his moment. Sure the DCEU is working on another Joker film with Joaquin Phoenix in the middle, but a script has just been finished for a Joker/Harley Quinn film. It's also been said that Leto's Joker is also going to get a movie himself.

Honestly, I wouldn't be as hyped for these movies if the DCEU announced another Joker/Batman clash coming our way. I really love Ben Affleck's Batman, and I think it would be amazing if we actually get to see him face Leto's Joker onscreen.

I just hope they find a way for that to happen before Affleck officially quits the character.

No release date has been set for the Suicide Squad sequel, but Joker comes out Oct. 4, 2019.
