David Ayer Doesn't Regret Working On Suicide Squad 'For A Second'

The DCEU has stumbled once more with the release of Justice League, but the movie still doesn't compare to the complete misfire that was David Ayer's Suicide Squad. The movie was rife with behind-the-scenes drama, what with WB said to be constantly interfering with Ayer's vision, but as it turns out, Ayer himself doesn't regret working on the film at all.

When asked by a fan on Twitter whether he would work for WB again, Ayer replied:

Ayer isn't attached to direct the sequel to Suicide Squad, but it's said that he's developing a movie for the DCEU called Gotham City Sirens, which would team-up Harley Quinn with the rest of Gotham's femme fatales like Poison Ivy and Catwoman. We don't have any more updates on that film now, but hopefully we will when 2018 rolls in.

When Suicide Squad was first teased, the movie actually looked pretty dark, but with the backlash surrounding the release of Batman v Superman, it was said that WB interfered heavily with the tone of the movie, attempting to make it "lighter."

The result was a huge mess of the film, which was cut too much like a trailer, and had a storyline too generic for modern superhero films. Though Harley Quinn and Deadshot came out as fan favorites, characters like Katana, Captain Boomerang, and Enchantress came out underdeveloped.

Ayer's future in the DCEU is still a bit murky, but you can catch his Netflix movie Bright which comes out Dec. 22.
