Daredevil Season 3 Won't Have Any Defenders Crossover

Daredevil season 3 looks like a radical change when compared to the first two. While it does have the return of Matt Murdock, he will be a changed man after what happened in Defenders. His fellow Defenders have also changed quite a bit, with Luke Cage becoming a crime lord and Danny Rand losing the power of the Iron Fist.

If you were hoping to see The Defenders appear in this season, you will be sorely disappointed. Screen Rant recently talked with showrunner Erik Oleson and he revealed that there will be no crossover episodes, as Oleson wanted this season to be self-contained.

Considering the kind of story being told, it makes sense to not have any of the other Netflix characters appear. The fact that Cage is a crime lord and Rand is perfecting his martial arts, having no crossovers just makes sense.

Plus, this season not only focuses on Matt battling his inner demons but also taking on Wilson Fisk, who will be free once again. It just makes sense to focus on Matt Murdock and Fisk. The Defenders is where all of the crossovers should be happening anyway.

Here is Oleson's explanation as to why Daredevil season 3 is self-contained:

"I wanted it to be standalone, I did not do crossovers this season. I wanted to really get back to these core characters and use the real estate to focus on who they are and really fleshed them out before I introduced external and other elements of the MCU, at least on the Netflix/Marvel side - I really wanted to get back to the core characters and tell a character-driven season."

Daredevil season three comes out on October 19.
