Cyberpunk 2077 Developers Announce New Partnership With Multiplayer Experts

CD Projekt Red

Although CD Projekt Red hasn't announced an official release date for Cyberpunk 2077 yet, we already have a good idea what kind of experience it would bring thanks to the trailers and gameplay reveals shown in recent months. The studio hasn't discussed the game's multiplayer possibilities but they've announced a partnership with Digital Scapes, a company that's an expert for this kind of game type design.

Here's what the press release from the studio said: "Founded by industry veterans hailing from BioWare, Radical Entertainment and Relic, Digital Scapes is an ambitious video game development studio specialising in AAA multiplayer console and PC game development, development tool creation, asset production, and cloud computing. Digital Scapes team members worked on blockbuster game series like Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40,000, Dying Light, Prototype, and more."

"Cyberpunk 2077 is our most ambitious project to date and we work hard every day to make it a creative and technological achievement. The Digital Scapes team brings aboard a lot of talent, experience and technical knowledge, and I'm very confident our long-term cooperation will add plenty to the game," said Michał Nowakowski, SVP Business Development of CD Projekt RED.

Digital Scapes' Marcin Chady added: "We are both excited and honoured to work with CD PROJEKT RED. Their incredibly creative and accomplished team of developers have been pushing narrative-driven, role-playing games to unprecedented levels. We look forward to helping them create the very best video games on the planet."

At this point, it's still too early to tell how the studios will add a multiplayer mode in Cyberpunk 2077 but the open-world role-playing game looks like a great fit for online multiplayer. Its futuristic world is worth exploring together with friends, and it would also make an interesting battlefield for competitive deathmatches.

Cyberpunk 2077 synopsis:

In Night City, people want to dream big. The rat race is never over. The verticality of the city represents the social ladder. People at the bottom are literally living on the streets. They look up to those inside high buildings, as they look at the common folk from above. The city dictates the rules. It creates dreams and fuels people's aspirations. They are fed advertisement, they can peek into lives of those more fortunate and are always pushed towards the, often unattainable, dream of fame and luxury.
The social ladder concept can be seen in every aspect of life in Night City. The less fortunate folks, albeit with a less-than-ideal quality of life, still have access to technology thanks to charity shops, which hand out tech to the poor. Old computers are also fairly easy to get a hold of. This is crucial to the overexposure of advertisement and jump-starting people's dreams, which ultimately keeps them within the borders of Night City — in the trailer, we see exclusive fashion brands using holographic female models to show off their product line.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No official release date has been announced yet.
