Crisis on Infinite Earths Producer Hints that They Asked Nicholas Cage to Play Superman

The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths event is already wowing audiences by bringing together three different Superman actors, but there's always more Supermen that they could bring in for the crossover. Nicholas Cage had almost played the Man of Steel for Tim Burton's infamously canceled Superman Lives, and producer Marc Guggenheim hints they asked Cage to be in their crossover.

When teased by a fan to ask Cage to come for the crossover, Guggenheim replied:

Though Cage never got a chance to play Superman in a live-action film, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies managed to get Cage to voice the Man of Steel. It's not the same as playing him live, but I'm sure a lot of people would have their minds blown if Crisis somehow got a chance to get Cage to appear as an alternate version of Superman—complete with mullet.

For now, the Supermen confirmed in Crisis are Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Tyler Hoechlin (Supergirl), and Tom Welling (Smallville). There's certainly room for other Supermen to appear like Dean Cain or (wishful thinking) Henry Cavill, but it's likely they've cast as many Supermen as they want.

If anything, the crossover is also looking for other heroes. Kevin Conroy is, for the first time, playing a live-action Bruce Wayne for the film, and it's likely that Burt Ward is going to be playing an older Robin. Rumor also has it that Lynda Carter could be reprising her role as Wonder Woman as well.

Crisis on Infinite Earths will start with Supergirl on Dec. 8, and continue with Batwoman (Dec. 9) and The Flash (Dec. 10). The whole event ends on Jan. 14 with Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
