Chris Pine recently opened up about the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 by DC Studios despite the franchise's box office track record.

When James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the management of DC Studios in late 2022, Wonder Woman 3 was one of the projects that were shelved, abruptly ending the tenure of Gal Gadot as the iconic hero.

The franchise has since then moved forward with the new DCU reboot that is set to introduce a new incarnation of Wonder Woman. So far, no new actress has been cast in the role yet.

In a recent interview, Pine weighed in on the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 and admitted that he feels stunned by the studio's decision.

"I'm stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere," he said.

"I don't know what the reasoning was behind that; it's above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character; Patty [Jenkins] is such a thoughtful director."

When asked whether there were plans to bring him back for the third film, Pine revealed that his character was dead for good.

"Me. No. Homie is dead. Steve is gonzo. It would be ridiculous to try to bring me back," he said.

It is understandable to hear Pine's disappointment over the cancellation since he was one of the key players in the Wonder Woman series and it is clear from his comments that he was supportive of Gadot and Jenkins.

So far, DC Studios has not laid out any plans to do a new Wonder Woman solo movie in the first phase of the DCU franchise. However, they are developing a prequel TV series set in Themyscira years before the birth of the hero.

For now, fans should wait for more news and updates regarding the plans for Wonder Woman in the DCU as the franchise is still in its earlier years.
