Chris Pine Explains Why We Need Wonder Woman

Superhero movies are cool, mostly for the storylines and fleshed out characters. But it's hard to deny that we're also in it for the action and the fight scenes. After all, whether it was the fight against Doomsday or the intimae two-versus-one fight of Iron Man, Captain America, and Bucky, there's just something about fight scenes that give us goosebumps.

However, Wonder Woman will reportedly bring in a different view to superheroes—something that only the Themyscira Princess can deliver: love and compassion.

And while director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot have said it time and again, this time actor Chris Pine, who will portray Steve Trevor in the movie, gave his two cents' to Vanity Fair on how Wonder Woman will be different—and why this difference is crucial to the superhero world.

"We've seen stories told through the male prism a lot. Men are not all that smart. We tend to want to kill each other all the time, so it's nice to finally have a fresh, female perspective with important themes. To have a female superhero story that is about love and compassion and nurturing of life than the opposite is very important."

Pine also touches on the fact "falling in love," so does that hint that the movie will follow the comics' pathway of Trevor being Diana's prince—minus being the damsel in distress, of course. Perhaps this is the way she'll showcase heroism: showing strength in compassion.

Wonder Woman will be out in theaters on June 2.

Synopsis:
Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.
