Chris Hemsworth Reveals Why He Turned Down a Returning Role in Star Trek 4

Chris Hemsworth's star has risen in recent years, mostly thanks to his work as Thor in Marvel's movies like Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame. The actor will be continuing his MCU career for a bit longer thanks to the ending of Endgame, which revealed that he will be in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with rumors of a fourth Thor film from Taika Waititi.

Before all of that, he played James T. Kirk's father in the opening of J. J. Abrams' Star Trek and did alright for a small role. Since his star has risen, there have been reports of Hemsworth being offered a returning role for a possible Star Trek 4, which seems to be in danger since both Hemsworth and lead star Chris Pine have declined the offers.

Hemsworth has decided to reveal why he turned the role down during an interview with Variety:

"I didn't feel like we landed on a reason to revisit that yet. I didn't want to be underwhelmed by what I was going to bring to the table."

Seems like Hemsworth wasn't a big fan of their plans for his character, though his reasoning is pretty vague. It's probably a mixture between that and his pay, though we can't say anything for certain without any concrete details.

Fans can enjoy seeing Chris Hemsworth in Avengers: Endgame, which should still be showing in cinemas.
