Chris Evans Confirms That He Won’t be Returning as Captain America

It's final. Chris Evan's won't be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play Captain America.

The Marvel star just recently had an appearance on The Graham Nortonshow, and during his interview with Norton, Evans discussed his return to the MCU. Despite the many rumors that Evans might make an appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Disney+ series, Evans believes that his time with Marvel has come to an end.

Speaking with Graham Norton, Evans says that it's too risky for him to return as Steve Rogers after ending his character's narrative on such a high note in Avengers: Endgame.

"Yes, I think it is," Evans said. "It was a great run and we went out on such a high note that it would be risky to revisit it in my opinion. It was such a good experience and I think it's better left that way."

Evans sounds pretty certain about retiring from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As disappointing as it is, the Marvel star does make a strong point. Sure, Marvel fans might find it hard to imagine the MCU without Captain America, however, bringing the First Avenger back would ruin the character's closing chapter in Endgame.

The actor's comments seem to be a more definitive response to the question of Captain America's return than the one Evans gave in November last year.

Speaking in an interview for Variety's Actors on Actor's series, Evans told his Endgame co-star Scarlett Johansson how he wasn't sure whether or not he'd return.

"To Marvel? Wow. Everything clicks when I get up," Evans told Johansson, "Recovery is not the same. You never say never. I love the character. I don't know."

Back then, the actor didn't think a return was "a hard no," even though it wasn't "an eager yes either."

Guess Marvel fans will just have to move on from now on.

Black Widow is set to release on November 6, 2020.
