Fresh after the first season’s final episode, a Cherry Magic compilation anime film was announced, and it is set to be released in Japan sometime in 2024.
The upcoming film was announced via the anime’s official website right after the anime’s 12th episode aired. This announcement came with a new visual with a hand-drawn style.
While it won’t be an all-new anime film, it should be a nice way for fans to re-experience the show’s funny and compelling rom-com story.
Cherry Magic: A Cute and Funny New BL Anime
Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! is a BL anime by Satelight (of Helck and Black Summoner fame) that’s based on the ongoing manga of the same name.
The anime may have only been released recently, but the manga has long been quite popular. In fact, it even got a Japanese TV drama adaptation in October 2020 with a follow-up live-action anime film in April 2022.
As for the anime, it may not have been one of winter 2024’s biggest hits, but it has gotten a lot of attention from BL fans thanks to its funny and surprisingly heart-warming story.
The series follows Kiyoshi Adachi, an office worker who gains the ability to read minds after reaching 30 years of age as a virgin, a reference to the 30-year-old Virgin Wizard meme.
Thanks to his new power, he discovers that his co-worker, Yuichi Kurosawa, has a crush on him.
Cherry Magic Anime Compilation Film Announced
Even though the anime has not gotten a second season announcement yet, fans in Japan can at least look forward to the upcoming compilation film.
There aren’t a lot of details about this movie yet, but what is confirmed is that it will come to Japanese cinemas sometime in 2024.
Given that there’s no release date or a more specific release window yet, chances are that it will be released later this year, possibly in the fall season.
The film likely won’t feature much new content, as is the case with other compilation films, such as the upcoming Bocchi the Rock! re-release.

Will the Cherry Magic Compilation Film Get a US Release? Our Predictions
Typically, compilation films like these are only released in Japan, with a few exceptions. This, coupled with the fact that Cherry Magic is in a fairly niche genre means fans probably won’t get to see this in US cinemas.
