Check Out New Stills Of Pilots And Jaegers In Pacific Rim Uprising

It's been four years since the release of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim, and next year we'll see the Jaegers and Kaiju come back onscreen for Pacific Rim Uprising. EW has come up with some new stills from the film, and it gives us a good look at John Boyega and his crew of pilots as well as the new Jaegers that will be introduced in the film.

Boyega also describes his character:

"Jake is the prodigal son… He is a young guy who was on the cusp of greatness in his early days when he was training to be a Jaeger pilot, but he always had a troubled relationship with Stacker (Idris Elba). I'm the son he didn't really talk about in the first film … the product of Stacker's first love."

Boyega also goes on to say that Jake and his father Stacker had a falling out since Stacker chose to pore all of his attention on Mako (RInko Kikuchi), one of the main pilots from the first movie.

It has also been confirmed that Jake will also be partnering up with Lambert (Scott Eastwood) to pilot the Gipsy Avenger. The rest of the Jaegers have been called Saber Athena (orange), Guardian Bravo (Gray), and Titan Redeemer (Red)—all of which have their own unique capabilities.

Despite the absence of Guillermo del Toro, I'm actually excited to see Uprising. Though I felt that the overall story can use some work, del Toro did a great job introducing us to a whole new world of Jaegers and Kaiju. I also love the concept of having two pilots drift to pilot one gigantic Jaeger.

Pacific Rim Uprising comes out 23, 2018.
