Charlie Brooker Reveals What To Expect In Black Mirror Season 5

People are currently distracted by Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, which allows the viewer to actually choose how the film will end. But what exactly can we expect from Black Mirror Season 5? Charlie Brooker has offered an update on the next episodes.

Brooker recently spoke to The New York Times about Bandersnatch, the interactive film that undoubtedly took a long time to develop. Although the new Netflix movie consumed much of the Black Mirror creator's time, that doesn't mean he has forgotten all about the fifth season. In fact, Brooker revealed that Season 5 will have a different tone compared to its predecessors.

"We're doing more optimistic episodes and stories, rather than just dystopian and negative ones," Brooker stated. "We want to keep the show interesting for us."

This is certainly a welcome idea for most fans who enjoyed episodes like San Junipero from Season 3 and Hang the DJ from the fourth season. Hopefully, Brooker's plans would mean that Black Mirror Season 5 could show the positive side of technology in the future. Unfortunately, the actual release date has not yet been revealed although Netflix assures that the next season could air late next year.

But is there any chance that the new episodes will be interactive like Bandersnatch? Brooker confessed that he isn't quite ready to return to the complicated premise. He has a piece of amusing advice for anyone who wants to try the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure format. "Run away," Brooker said. "It's harder than you think."

Black Mirror Season 5 is expected to air on Netflix in late 2019.
