Brie Larson Was Initially Hesitant To Play Captain Marvel

Though Marvel films are surefire ways to turn you into an A-List celebrity, they do require an insane amount of commitment, and with a contract that spans years no less. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson talks about her taking up the role, and how she initially took a long time to think it over before accepting.

Larson admits:

"It took me a really long time. I had to sit with myself, think about my life and what I want out of it. Ultimately, I couldn't deny the fact that this movie is everything I care about, everything that's progressive and important and meaningful, and a symbol I wished I would've had growing up. I really, really feel like it's worth it if it can bring understanding and confidence to young women – I'll do it."

It's no doubt that Captain Marvel will play an important role in the MCU; after all, she is the first female hero to headline in her own movie. No doubt Larson has the talent to pull the character off. Let's just hope she has the strength to keep up with all the global tours and long production schedules.

Even if Marvel is considered to be in the lead of the comic book movie race, DC is still the one to first introduce a female-led superhero movie. Marvel still has to make us wait until 2019 for theirs.

Captain Marvel is set to hit theaters March 8, 2019.
