If you thought demons and grim reapers are all that makes the Black Butler fantastical, think again.
Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic, the franchise's anime film, is bringing in zombies this side of weird. The new movie is set to premiere in U.S. theaters, and Funimation is starting up the hype-wagon with a new clip.
Here we get to see the resurrection of a zombie. In the clip, seen below, things start out fairly tame, with a grieving couple supposedly given a second chance with their deceased daughter. With a jolt of lightning not unlike Frankenstein's monster experienced, she starts moving from her coffin.
Then again, when your loved one's mouth is already sewn shut like that, you should think twice whether resurrecting her is still the best thing to do. Just when that big family reunion gets emotional, it gets extra bloody really quickly.
Ciel and Sebastian are apparently investigating this so-called miracle medicine that brings people to life, so they're in the audience. And as expected, even though the zombie was heading towards them, the calm, cool, and collected butler remains stoic as ever. Yes, even when the zombie starts to do the crab walk like Regan in The Exorcist.
How exactly the zombie phenomenon will be explained, we have yet to learn. But if there's anything we should look forward to, it's how Sebastian will deal with this.
Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic will be out in theaters on June 12 for the subtitled version and on June 14 for the dubbed version.
Synopsis:
The brand-new feature film is based on the Luxury Liner arc from the original manga and follows up the Black Butler: Book of Murder arc! Ciel and Sebastian investigate a human experimentation case aboard a luxury liner, the Campania, with appearances from many favorite characters, including Grell and Undertaker.
