Benedict Cumberbatch Rescues Cyclist from Four Muggers

It looks like Cumberbatch isn't just a hero onscreen, but offscreen as well. News has it that Cumberbatch came to the rescue of a poor cyclist after they spotted him being mugged by four people in London.

According to The Sun, the even took place near Sherlock Holmes fictional residence of 221B Baker Street. Cumberbatch was in his Uber with his wife Sophie Hunter when they saw a Deliveroo cyclist being attacked by a gang of four. Cumberbatch was said to have promptly leapt from the car, into the fray, dragging the men away from the cyclist saying "Leave him alone!"

Uber driver Manuel Dias, said that he even witnessed the men try to fight Cumberbatch, who was good enough to fight them off without a scratch:

"I had hold of one lad and Benedict another. He seemed to know exactly what he was doing. He was very brave. He did most of it, to be honest."

"They tried to hit him but he defended himself and pushed them away. He wasn't injured. Then I think they also recognized it was Benedict and ran away.

As for Cumberbatch, he was said to have insisted that he was not a hero, just saying that he ‘had to' help the poor cyclist. After the bustle, Cumberbatch then asked the cyclist how he was doing and after he said ‘I'm okay,' Cumberbatch gave him a hug.

Good to know that the superhero training actually has some real-life applications.
