Batman Solo Movie is A Different Kind of Pressure for Ben Affleck

Actor and director Ben Affleck has tried to get the record straight when it comes to the expected Batman solo film time and again.

In a matter of days, the Internet exploded from news that he won't be doing it anymore unless the script becomes polished and then again when he's suddenly quoted that the script is doing pretty fine. Considering the state of affairs with the DC film franchise, this is hardly a surprising reaction from the audience. After all, we have yet to see a DC movie that will restore our faith in the fact that DC and Warner Bros know what they are doing as far as developing the DC cinematic universe is concerned.

Now, in an interview with USA Today, Affleck has once again given his two cents' worth when it comes to the development of the movie.

"Superhero movies get the level of attention that is nothing like any film I've done. You cast the 14th lead in these movies and the Internet goes crazy. I understand and embrace that. That's part of the pressure that comes with doing it. That's why I am not going to do it, unless I really feel confident about it."

While we can all see where the careful treading is coming from, it's still a bit disconcerting to see what could be interpreted as an undecided attitude towards the movie—and it's not just on Affleck's part. We've already seen him do great things on the director's chair.

What's worrisome is the possibility that creative differences between those in production and those with the budget may be having, which could be contributing to the delay. There were previous whispers of how the scripts are seen in DC's side of production. It doesn't help that other DC franchises have also seen directorial exits thanks to creative differences.

But for now, I'd rather wait for a long while to get my fix of another Batman movie—so long as I know it's going to be worth standing in the same mention as Christopher Nolan's trilogy.

The Batman solo movie doesn't have a release date yet. But two DC films, Wonder Woman and Justice League are scheduled for June 2 and Nov. 16 respectively.
