Avengers: Infinity War Writers Admit To Being Confused By The Inconsistencies In The MCU

Marvel Studios might have one of the best comic book movie cinematic universes in Hollywood history, but even the Marvel Cinematic Universe has its flaws.

Speaking with Screen Rant during a set visit last summer, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely open up about the difficulty working on the culmination of the franchise. Not only is it a challenge for the two to write a film bringing more than sixty Marvel characters together, but the two also admit that they're often left confused by the different inconsistencies in the MCU.

During the interview the two were asked about Thanos' supporting cast, and while McFeely tried his best to explain writing Thanos and the Black Order, Markus opens up about the different problems they encounter trying to make sense of Thanos character throughout the many bits that he gets to appear in the MCU.

"And we've all sat there and went, ‘What the hell is he talking about? Where was he when he did that?'" Markus said, referring to Thanos at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

When the publication brings up the other gauntlet in Guardians, McFeely freely calls the issue as "another delightful, delightful problem."

"Odin's a bit of a showman. Thanos turns out to have quite a few people to talk to both on his side and not on his side. Weirdly I think he's the most understandable guy in the movie sometimes," Markus adds.

The only question now is whether McFeely and Markus will both be able to successfully retcon this issues and tie things together in a neat bow in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. We hope so.

Avengers: Infinity War premieres April 27. Avengers 4 makes its big debut on May 3, 2019.
