Avengers: Infinity War Directors Say Thanos Stays One Step Ahead Of Marvel’s Heroes

It looks like the Avengers are going to have a hard time defeating Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Infinity War. Not only will the Mad Titan gain power collecting the Infinity Stones, but it seems like he'll also be one step ahead of Marvel's strongest heroes in their battle to save the Earth.

Speaking in an interview with CNET, Infinity War's directors, Anthony and Joe Russo, openly reveal how Thanos comes off so strong in the movie that it almost seems like he's one of the film's leads.

"With Infinity War, the biggest new element to the movie is Thanos and the fact that he's entering the storytelling in a very bold, strong way, to the degree that he's almost one of the leads. We've shaped an interesting narrative around him that in some ways leans heavily on a heist film in the fact that he's going after the infinity stones in a much bolder, successful way than he has in the past. The entire movie has that energy of the bad guy being one step ahead of the heroes. We looked at a lot of movies that had that heist-style energy to them, [and] that brought some inspiration."

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been teasing Thanos' quest for the Infinity Stones, and it seems like it's going to be interesting watching the Mad Titan go after the gems in Infinity War. In the past, he had Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Ronan "The Accuser" (Lee Pace) try to collect the Infinity Stones for him, but that didn't work out all that well, and now that he's out to do it himself, things might go according to plan for Thanos.

Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas May 4, 2018, while Avengers 4 makes its big premiere on May 3, 2019.
