Avengers: Endgame Writers Reveal 'Terrible' Alternate Scene Where Heroes Return

Avengers: Endgame was chockfull of memorable moments, and one of them was definitely the arrival of all the other heroes behind Captain America ready for one more fight with Thanos. As it turns out, there were lots of other ways that the scene was written, and one particularly "terrible" version had them eating pizza at the Avengers HQ.

This was revealed by Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely at the San Diego Comic-Con (via ComicBook). McFeely said, "We had one where they all come back to the exact same [place], to the compound, like [snap], boom, there they are… You hear, ‘Mr. Stark?' And there's Peter coming around the corner. Then we cut five minutes, and they're all eating pizza. It was terrible."

The reason for the change was because having everyone reunite before the final battle with Thanos kind of felt like "we ended the movie and then started it up again to fight Thanos." With the final scene, we still get the awe of everyone coming together, even if they were brought back minutes before Thanos' attack.

With the home release for Endgame coming close, we've been getting a lot of new info on deleted scenes and alternate concepts. No doubt we're going to get some other big reveals when the film officially comes out for the home video, but for now, it's great that we're getting all these neat tidbits online without anyone worrying about spoilers.

Catch Avengers: Endgame on digital on July 30 and Blu-Ray/DVD on Aug. 13.
