Avengers: Endgame Won’t Be The End Of Phase 3 Of The MCU

Avengers: Endgame might be marketed as the culmination of the past ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it turns out that the film isn't going to mark the end of Phase 3 in the franchise.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been busy making the promotional rounds for the second entry in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part film, and during a fan event in Shanghai, the producer was asked a question about Spider-Man: Far From Home (via CBR). Though the question is largely unclear due to the audio of the interview, Feige's response is pretty straightforward.

"It's the end of the third phase. You're the first person I told that to," the Marvel Studios executive told the news outlet.

This might come as a surprise to fans. Many expected Endgame to be the end of the third phase of the MCU – after all, a culminating film ought to mark the end of the old phase and bring in with the new. Feige's comment seems to contradict everyone's assumption about the film. Of course this could be a misunderstanding. We'll just have to wait for Feige to clarify on his comments. It won't take that long – Endgame is coming out next week, and after that Marvel's going to start marketing its sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. We'll know soon enough.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame is set to premiere on April 26, 2019. Spider-Man: Far From Home is being directed by Jon Watts and is set to premiere on July 2.
