Avatar Mobile Game Has an Estimated Release Window

Before we get another dose of the new worlds in the Avatar sequels, mobile gamers will be happy to note that there's also a multiplayer mobile strategy game for the franchise coming out as a tie-in project.

This has already been in development even before, but now, the developer Aftershock has been acquired by FoxNet.

FoxNet is the entertainment arm of 21st Century Fox, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, this deal will not affect development. If anything, it highlights possibilities when it comes to other tie-in projects for other franchises.

"We see this interactive storytelling as a way to potentially launch new franchises, as well as expand existing Fox properties. We have a lot of IP we are looking to bring to Aftershock. Technology is moving incredibly rapidly, and we are trying to stay on top of it and be able to exploit it and bring opportunities to creative storytellers."

That's all thanks to Aftershock's own record of projects, which include mobile games for Marvel Contest of Champions and The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth.

Despite the acquisition, Aftershock's headquarters will remain in Los Angeles and san Francisco. As far as the Avatar mobile game is concerned, FoxNet president Salil Mehta stated that rollout is expected sometime before the sequel.

The mobile game seems very promising, with Mehta adding that this platform was a great way for fans to "experience the world of Pandora."

The four Avatar sequels are already dated for release, with the direct sequel expected in 2020. The other three are expected to roll out during the holiday seasons of 2021, 2024, and 2025.
