Apple TV is releasing another brand-new sci-fi series, but hang on a sec, this story seems... familiar. Are Dark Matter and Constellation on Apple TV+ connected?

Apple TV+'s Dark Matter and Constellation Similarities Explained
Dark Matter is an upcoming 9-episode series on Apple TV+.
Based on the New York Times bestseller, Dark Matter follows Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton) and his surreal encounter with infinite realities. Sound familiar?
Constellation ended its eight-episode run back in March of this year. Following Jo's (played by Noomi Rapace) experience in outer space with her crew, strange things start happening to her once she returns to Earth.
She's forgetting memories about her past times and her backstory as the "old" Jo before the exploded incident occurred. In fact, even her own reality seems all too... unfamiliar with how her memories were warped.
Dark Matter also happens to depict a similar theme, where Jason somehow wakes up in a different reality where his wife, Daniela (Jennifer Connelly), is not his wife anymore and he doesn't have his son, either.
So, what's going on here? Are these two actually connected?

What Makes Dark Matter Different From Constellation?
It can't be helped that Dark Matter and Constellation do share similar themes and storylines, however, these two are not related in any way.
It is also worth mentioning that despite their commonalities, Dark Matter portrays the infinite realities differently. For one thing, Constellation, as the show's title suggests, involves space travel, while Dark Matter does not.
Another is that Constellation doesn't have a "main" villain to vote against, but Dark Matter does. In this case, as the trailer revealed, Jason Dessen is fighting himself for kidnapping him and swapping their lives.
Dark Matter is based on a New York Times Bestseller of the same title written by Blake Crouch, with Constellation drawing inspiration from a strange real-world event.
One of the main questions Dark Matter is looking to answer is how the other Jason can travel between their realities. Hopefully, with 9 episodes, Dark Matter gets to expose the phenomenon on time.
