Ant-Man and The Wasp: Paul Rudd Talks About His Surprising Other Role

If you've seen Ant-Man and The Wasp, you might agree that it's a great sequel that expands all of the first film's strengths whilst also helping this franchise's universe grow. While some would argue that the connection to Captain America: Civil War hurt it's standalone nature a bit, there's no denying that it was a very entertaining two hours.

One of the most entertaining parts of the film involved a surprise role that Paul Rudd ended up in. We'll discuss this in a bit but be warned….

BIG SPOILERS FOR ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

When it was revealed that Scott Lang and Janet Van Dyne had a special connection during the former's trip to the Microverse (called the Quantum Realm in the movie), many thought that Janet just sent Scott a message to her family. However, midway through the movie, it was revealed that she put some sort of antenna in his mind and was able to speak through Scott.

So yes, for a fairly entertaining few minutes Paul Rudd was acting like Michelle Pfeiffer's version of Janet Van Dyne.

Rudd discussed the role on ComicBook.com and acknowledged how awkward it was to shoot. During parts where had to put his hand on Michael Douglas' face in an affectionate manner, it led to some chuckles between the actors. This is fine since it was easily one of the funniest moments of the film.

"Every time we would refer to that, we kept calling it the "All Of Me Sequence" and we'd have many conversations about it earlier on. Because this seems like a fairly big swing. But it was surreal, to say the least. And there are those moments, you know, as an actor, you have to buy into this scenario and you're playing the truth of the moment. But at the same time, as me being me and Michael being Michael when I had my hand tenderly to his cheek and I'm staring… in the eyes, here we… we giggled a couple of times."

Ant-Man and The Wasp is currently showing in theaters.
