9 New Dominaria Magic: The Gathering Cards Revealed

Today, Wizards of the Coast has released an article discussing the mechanics in the upcoming Magic: The Gathering set, Dominaria, and they also revealed nine new cards to help explain these mechanics. These mechanics were first revealed in the Dominaria Release Notes that were leaked earlier this month.

Urza's Ruinous Blast

This is a great board-wipe card but you need a Legendary creature or planeswalker in play to cast this card. Dominaria has a lot of them so it shouldn't be that hard to cast this.

Kicker is a returning mechanic in Dominaria. Cards with Kicker will let you pay additional costs to give your spells an extra effect. Check out Saproling Migration, Keldon Overseer, and Academy Drake:

Remember the Protection ability? Well, they kind of have that in Dominaria but worse, and in the form of "Hexproof from". Just check out Knight of Grace below:

Vicious Offering

Here's another card with Kicker that could replace Moment of Craving in some decks. This could be sideboard-worthy against decks that play indestructible creatures like Hazoret and Rhonas.

Dominaria is introducing a new term: "Historic". It's a term that refers to Artifacts, Sagas, and legendaries. The set features a good amount of cards that belong in that category, and they can be used to trigger bonus effects like the cards below: Serra Disciple and Guardians of Koilos.

Flame of Keld

Earlier this month, Wizards of the Coast revealed the first Saga card. These are new types of Enchantments that enter the battlefield with a lore counter, and it comes with chapter abilities that trigger when a lore counter that is put on the Saga causes the number of lore counters on the Saga to become equal to or greater than the ability's chapter number (You can read more about how they work here.)

Flame of Keld is the second officially spoiled Saga card from Dominaria, and it might have potential to see play in Burn or Mono Red decks. Its first Chapter trigger could be helpful in triggering Madness in Modern, and its third Chapter trigger could be devastating to an opponent if you have multiple red sources that could deal damage in that turn.
