Nobody Likes Lando (or C-3PO) in Marvel's Star Wars #1

After 75 issues, a couple of one-shots, and three annuals, Marvel has decided to relaunch their Star Wars comic line. Why? Because a shiny new Star Wars #1 will sell more than a Star Wars #76, which is cynical but true. However, the fact that this era of Star Wars, now written by former Darth Vader and Poe Dameron writer Charles Soule, is set after Empire Strikes Back but before the Return of the Jedi, this new series has a lot of fans excited.

Well, thanks to CBR, we now have a preview of Marvel's Star Wars #1 and it's gorgeous, due to the art of Jesus Saiz. It also gives us a fairly interesting status quo for our ragtag of heroes, with Luke Skywalker not having a hand, Han Solo frozen in carbonite, and Lando trying his best to earn the trust of this crew, despite surrendering Han to Vader, this could be incredible, if somewhat angst-filled comic.

Oh, and C-3PO is really annoying. And you guys almost cried when they teased his death during trailers for The Rise of Skywalker.

This era of Star Wars is often unexplored so this should get a lot of attention from hardcore fans. Hopefully, this comic book ends up doing well and gives Star Wars fans years of good stories to enjoy. Soule has some big shoes to fill but he should do fine.

Marvel's Star Wars #1 comes out on January 1, 2020.
